The Relatives as Parents Program, RAPP, and the Foster Homes Licensing Unit of the Forsyth County Department of Social Services, recently partnered with local institutions and individuals to provide holiday cheer for children being cared for by their extended families (which includes grandparents and other relatives), or foster parents recruited and licensed by our agency to bridge connections.
Our annual Holiday Project surpassed expectations and represents generous support from our community. We received overwhelming assistance for both projects from various partners, faith communities, and individual donors.
Thanks to our generous sponsors, RAPP was able to serve 71 families (283 children and caregivers). The Foster Homes Licensing Unit was able to serve 200 children in foster care. Because the relatives and foster parents often welcome children into their homes with little notice, having such wonderful support from our community is great help to the families served.
RAPP and the Foster Homes Licensing Unit offer sincere appreciation to everyone who assisted in coordinating our efforts within their organization to support these two projects, RAPP and Foster Homes Licensing Holiday Projects.
We also thank those who contributed financial resources and their valuable time and efforts. Generous community sponsorship is vital in serving our families.
Everyone helped to create magical moments for our children and families. There are no words that can express enough for you giving of yourself and substance.
