Sergeant Honored as Officer of the Year
It is with great pleasure to announce Sergeant Millard Shepherd was honored as Officer of the Year on May 18th by the Optimist Club of Winston-Salem.
Sergeant Shepherd has served the citizens of Forsyth County since 1987. He currently supervises the Domestic Violence Unit and is an integral force behind Safe on Seven. Sergeant Shepherd’s work has been praised not only in our community, but also across the state. Several agencies from North Carolina have called upon his knowledge and experience to help start domestic violence units in their own jurisdictions.
Sergeant Shepherd has been called upon by various community and state leaders, professionals and organizations to deliver speeches regarding domestic violence and victim’s rights.
Sergeant Shepherd conducts in-service training for the FCSO, United Way Courtwatch Program, Family Services, WSFCS Social Workers and other LE agencies. He is president of the Victim’s Assistance in Law Enforcement Committee.
Sergeant Shepherd has completed Advanced Crisis Response Team training, Leadership Development for LE Managers and Community Oriented Policing through the NCJA.
Sergeant Shepherd was nominated for the NC Coalition Against domestic Violence Above and Beyond Award and was recognized as NC-VAN’s featured member for Spring 2009 edition.
Sergeant Shepherd is truly an asset to the FCSO and citizens of Forsyth County. Congratulations Sergeant Shepherd!
