The certificate program is for sworn personnel designed to assist city, county, and state employees with training they need to become a more qualified planner and decision maker. It is for the officer being considered for promotion, as well as the current supervisor wanting to improve their interpersonal skills. The program is designed and administered in a fourteen course certificate program in a nine-month time frame. Officers attend one week per month from 8:00 to 5:00 daily. Each course is designed to be fast-paced and require out-of-class work. Classes include Law Enforcement Administration, Community and Media Relations, Law Enforcement Budgeting, Law Enforcement Ethics and Effective Leadership.
