The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is proud to announce that all Crime Scene Investigators have successfully passed crime scene certification testing through the International Association for Identification.
On May 6, 2011, the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office hosted testing for Crime Scene Certification through the International Association for Identification. All Forsyth County Sheriff's Office personnel successfully passed their testing. In the State of North Carolina, only 13 Certified Crime Scene Analysts and 9 Certified Senior Crime Scene Analysts exist.
Investigator C. D. Leonard, Sr. was awarded Certified Crime Scene Analyst certification on March 2, 2011. Investigator T. N. Evans and Investigator T. R. Jones, II were awarded Certified Crime Scene Analyst certification on May 6, 2011.
Corporal R. L. Horton and Sergeant S. M. Reid were awarded Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst certification on May 6, 2011. Corporal Horton and Sergeant Reid are the first Crime Scene Investigators to achieve all three modules of Crime Scene Certification through the International Association for Identification. They have earned the ranks of Certified Crime Scene Investigator, Certified Crime Scene Analyst and Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst. This is the second time in the history of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office that a Crime Scene Investigator has achieved Certified Senior Crime Scene Analyst.
The Forsyth County Sheriff's Office is the only ASCLD/LAB Accredited Laboratory in North Carolina where all Crime Scene personnel are certified through the International Association for Identification (The IAI). The IAI is the world’s oldest and largest forensic science/identification association.
