In 1962, President Kennedy and Congress proclaimed the calendar week inclusive of May 15th as National Police Week. National Police Week pays special recognition to those law enforcement officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty for the safety and protection of others.
Governor Pat McCrory has declared Law Enforcement Officers Week to be observed May 5th-11th in North Carolina. Forsyth County Law Enforcement Memorial Week will be observed beginning Sunday, May 12th through Saturday, May 18, 2013.
In observance of Law Enforcement Memorial Week, Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office flags shall be lowered to half staff at the Law Enforcement Detention Center and the Sheriff’s Administration Building beginning on Sunday, May 12 until Saturday, May 18, 2013. Additionally, all uniformed personnel will wear mourning bands over their badges to honor and remember officer who have died in the line of duty. The Forsyth County Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation invites you to be our guest at the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Memorial Service. The Memorial Service will take place on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. The service will be held at Pinedale Christian Church, located at 3395 Peters Creek Parkway. A BBQ dinner will follow the service.
