The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the 1st annual Sheriff’s Citizens Academy.
The Sheriff’s Citizens Academy is a 10-week program that will meet on Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office located at 301 North Church Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101. Classes will begin on March 12, 2015 and run for 10 consecutive weeks until May 14, 2015.
In keeping with our organizational values “Trust, Integrity and Compassion,” the Sheriff’s Citizen Academy is designed to nurture public trust through informing our citizens of the crucial role the Sheriff’s Office serves in Forsyth County. The Academy is a community relations program and is not designed to train citizens to be deputy sheriffs or to be our representative; rather it gives the citizens a basic but realistic view of what the Sheriff’s Office really does. The Sheriff’s Citizen Academy is intended to be an interactive program involving participants in “hands on” activities.
The Sheriff’s Citizen Academy is held without cost to the participants. To enroll, each participant must complete an application which can be obtained by visiting our website or by calling 336-917-7479. All applications should be completed and submitted to the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2015. The class size will be limited.
