The American Legion Post 55 recognized outstanding members of the public safety community on Monday, November 17. Four awards were given to the WSPD Officer, Firefighter, Highway Patrol Officer and EMT of the Year. Each candidate was required to go through an application process that included an interview with the American Legion Post 55 leadership. They were judged on service merit, community involvement and americanism.
Corporal Dena Lovett from Forsyth County Emergency Services was named EMT of the Year. Her hard work and dedication to her community was recognized at the dinner, held in honor of the award recipients. The other award recipients included, Captain Couch with WSFD, Officer Doub with WSPD, and Trooper Speas with NCHP.
