Deputy D. L. Bowden Completes Program at North Carolina Justice Academy

The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Deputy D. L. Bowden recently completed the School Resource Officer Certificate Program at the North Carolina Justice Academy. Deputy Bowden is the 172nd law enforcement officer to receive the certificate.

The School Resource Officer Certificate Program requires participants to be sworn law enforcement officers and assigned as a School Resource Officer. The certificate program requires four hundred hours of training, with a focus on School Resource Officer curriculum. Core classes include advanced legal training, basic School Resource Officer training and School Resource Officer ethics. Elective classes needed to fulfill remaining hours are offered at the North Carolina Justice Academy in Salemburg or Edneyville.

Deputy Bowden began his career with the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office in 2006. He has been a School Resource Officer since 2009.

The North Carolina Justice Academy develops and administers training for local and state law enforcement professionals in areas of Investigations, Legal, Law Enforcement Leadership, In-Service, Tactical and Traffic. The Justice Academy is a division of the North Carolina Department of Justice, under the administration of Attorney General Josh Stein.
