The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is proud to announce that Captain Van Loveland graduated from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, VA on September 15, 2017. The 269th Session of the National Academy consisted of 224 men and women from 48 states, 22 international countries, five military organizations, and six federal civilian organizations. Captain Loveland had been employed by the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office for 17 years working in various capacities throughout the agency. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from Gardner-Webb University and is currently working towards his Master’s degree.
Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program offers ten weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training for selected law enforcement officers with proven records as professionals. On average, these officer have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions. Due to its prestigious nature, only one percent of law enforcement officers are selected to attend the National Academy.
Training for the program is provided by the FBI Academy instructional staff, Special Agents, and other staff members holding advanced degrees, many of whom are recognized internationally in their fields of expertise. Since 1972, National Academy students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia for completion of their specialized classwork. .
