Forsyth County Emergency Services proudly promoted eight EMS paramedics to the position of field training officer (FTO) at the rank of lieutenant on Oct. 30.
Emergency Services Director Tim Black presented each FTO with their new badge and insignia. Two FTOs will be assigned to each EMS Operations shift and will serve as lead preceptors, who act as coaches and mentors to new EMTs and paramedics. FTOs also provide on duty training and will operate as assistant shift supervisors when needed.
“FTOs are the key to our success in sharpening the skills of our medics,” said Black. “They are training some of the best medics in the state of North Carolina. FTOs allow us to reduce our span of control in the field.”
The promotions went to Bruce Bridges and Thomas Shoun as A shift FTOs, Ashley Neace and Kendra Snider as B Shift FTOs, Jason Kildoo and Thomas Roberts as C Shift FTOs, and Brian Hallock and Kelly Bauer as D Shift FTOs.
