Dry high pressure has kept skies mostly sunny with light winds, allowing for an increase in ozone production to elevate AQI into the lower Code YELLOW range this afternoon. The ridge of high pressure remains nearly stationary over the Triad this evening and through tomorrow, and the lack of dispersion of today's pollution concentrations will likely supplement Thursday's pollution production to elevate AQI into the middle Code YELLOW range. Winds increase from the south on Friday as high pressure begins to slide offshore. The gradual increase in cloud cover and low-level moisture should limit ozone production, but there will likely be enough solar radiation through the day to allow for low Code YELLOW AQI for the Triad on Friday. Rain chances increase Friday and through Saturday as unsettled weather moves into the Triad from the west to lower ozone and particulate matter concentrations into the middle to upper Code GREEN range.
