Current Forsyth County Permits ONLY. Only the current holder of the permit is able to update the record. Please reach out to that Sheriff's Office.
Make sure you have updated your N.C. Driver’s License first. If you updated your driver’s license online, then you must wait on your new license to arrive to proceed with the change of address.
There are three (3) ways to change your address: in person at the Forsyth County Public Safety Center, US mail and email.
In-person - Come in to our office at the Forsyth County Public Safety Center located at 301 N. Church Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101 to have it updated. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
US Mail - Mail in a clear, black and white photocopy of both your new license, current permit, and a completed change of address form from our website. Mail these documents to Office of the Sheriff, Forsyth County, Attention Permits Unit, 301 N. Church Street, Winston-Salem, NC 27101.
Email - Make a clear, black and white scan of your new license, current permit, and a completed change of address form from our website, save it in a PDF format, and then email that to us. Our email address is permits@fcso.us
We do not accept faxes.
Once we have received your request we will process the change of address. This process produces a piece of paper with your new address on it that shall be carried with your current permit and driver’s license in order to carry concealed or to purchase using your permit. We will provide this change of address to you the same way you send it to us. This process is FREE.
If you are moving out of county all of your business involving your Concealed Handgun Permit would be with your new county once this change of address has been completed with our office.
