On April 15, 2011, Officer J. Mabe was conducting cell searches when he found prohibited gang related material. The material included information such as gang affiliations for Winston Salem and surrounding areas, gang leaders, nicknames for members and gangs, dates when gangs were formed and also included their prayer. This information was passed on to the Security Threat Group for review.

Officer Mabe is be commended for his attention to detail while conducting cell searches and his ability to recognize the importance of the material he found. This information is a vital part of maintaining the security of the facility and helping other law enforcement agencies with gang intelligence.
