Corporal Henderson and Deputy Lemons have been selected as Sworn Staff Members of the Month for June 2011
On Tuesday, June 07, 2011 Corporal Henderson and Deputy Lemons responded to a missing persons call. The reporting person told the officers that he was very concerned about the missing person because she had not been feeling well lately and could not walk well.
Corporal Henderson deployed her K-9 Calvin and she and Deputy Lemons started searching the property and surrounding areas. After a short search they located the missing person hiding in a brushy pine thicket in the southwest comer of the property. They found that the missing person was armed with a gun. The subject told the officers not to approach and threatened to commit suicide. Both officers tried talking to the subject, but could not convince her to put the weapon down. After a long negotiation, the missing person agreed to turn over the weapon.
Corporal Henderson and Deputy Lemons took appropriate actions to bring this situation to a successful conclusion. Both officers demonstrated a high degree of bravery and calmness under pressure. They are commended for their actions during this incident. The professional and courageous manner with which they serve the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is a credit to them personally, the Office of the Sheriff and the citizens of Forsyth County.
