Detention Officer W. Love has been chosen due to his exemplary approach in achieving safety and security changes in the LEDC special housing unit. Officer Love assumed a leadership role in coordinating the mission change of 8-South (SHU). The dormitory change includes operational and physical modifications such as harden doorways and controlled inmate movement techniques. Physical modifications were extensive and his approach allowed the changes to be affective without interrupting inmate supervision or acquiring additional overtime expenditures.

Officer Love, who has an excellent knowledge of detention procedures, was able to apply his skills to manage multiple tasks with little difficulty in gaining mission success. He offered supplementary support to other staff with their assignments regarding inmate supervision. This was in conjunction with his responsible for the inmates in 8-South and participating in newly inmate movement training. He also took a large role in supervising inmate work details. His approach to meeting mission parameters was unique. He was able to vacate a pod whenever work was scheduled to be accomplished. This allowed an ease of work access while maintaining a heighten level of security measures expected in the unit. His exemplary approach demonstrates an example of doing more with less. This attitude and style is contagious as other officers are rising to his work ethic. He has acquired a new knowledge in the inmate movement techniques and has quickly been able to pass those skills onto other officers.

Officer Love constantly works toward maintaining quality control and oversight for safe and secure operations in the special housing unit. He is instrumental in developing other officers in achieving a safety minded skill set while optimizing work efforts that achieve efficiencies. He goes the extra mile to ensure the County goals are accomplished. Congratulations on a job well done!
