Deputy Bowden served as the SRO assigned to Glenn High School this past year and will assume the SRO position at Clemmons Middle School during the Fall. During the last month of school, Deputy Bowden received a complaint from a substitute teacher concerning the theft of her I Phone from her desk. Although this could have easily been treated as a mundane "routine" report, Deputy Bowden exemplified what the role of an SRO should be by doing all that he could to follow up on the theft and bring it to a positive resolution.
Deputy Bowden pursued and followed up on the case talking to numerous individuals, including teachers, staff, students and parents in order to eventually identify the offender and recover the stolen property. The victim was extremely impressed with the FCSO and also commented that she had a renewed respect for law enforcement. She advised that she originally did not know what to expect and thought she may never hear anything after filing the report.
One could say that Deputy Bowden was just doing what every officer should do, and that would be correct. This incident, in the grand scale of things, may not be that significant, it was important to the victim and could have caused a loss of trust and respect for law enforcement. Deputy Bowden created a positive impression of law enforcement, of our SRO program and the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office by his actions. Congratulations on a job well done!
