The Execution Unit of the Civil Section has been maintaining paper copies of Execution cases for a ten year retention period. As a result, our Office stored approximately forty banker boxes full of execution files. In addition to the large storage area needed, manual research of any information needed was time consuming and inefficient.
Sergeant Burrow worked with the North Carolina Department of Cultural Resources, our Command Staff, and our IT Department to develop and implement a computerized storage of these manual files. As a result, these paper files are now scanned, organized, and any information needed is quickly retrievable resulting in a much more efficient manner of maintaining records.
Sergeant Burrow is to be commended for his initiative and tenacity in updating the Execution Section records storage.
