Detention Officer D. McDuffie received information from an inmate that another inmate had a weapon concealed in his cell. A search of the inmate's cell revealed a six inch shank. The inmate in question was criminally charged for possession of a weapon by a prisoner. During the same month, Detention Officer McDuffie smelled a strong odor of something burning while conducting a security tour. Upon entry to the cell, he found inmates burning cups and extinguished the fire. Detention Officer McDuffie's attention to detail and quick action prevented injury to staff and inmates.
