In July of 2013, Margaret Burchette joined the Sheriff’s Office Fiscal Management team. She has 14 years of previous experience in County Finance. During the time period of July 2013 through April 2014, Fiscal Management was short staffed by one person. The time period of April through August is a time of increased workload, with a focus on maintaining daily job functions, while entering year end purchase orders, closing the budget year, and initiating a new budget year. In addition to the daily and annual job duties, Margaret worked with County Finance to implement a new On-Line Service Voucher processing program that has reduced the use of an older payment program and has expedited the processing and payment of vendor invoices.
Margaret has done an excellent job of balancing job tasks, learning new job duties, and taking on new responsibilities with basic instruction. She has taken on the job duties quickly, with a limited learning curve. She has maintained a high level of productivity and has demonstrated an excellent attention to detail and accuracy. For example, she has had a 100% accuracy rate in processing the daily bank deposits. Margaret demonstrates a positive attitude and provides excellent customer service to both internal and external customers.
Margaret’s efforts, skills, and experience have been especially vital and important in maintaining the primary functions and tasks of the Fiscal Management Department and Agency during a time period of short staffing. Also, her efforts and assistance have been very important in successfully implementing the On-Line Service Voucher program, completing year end purchase order processing, and in successfully closing the previous budget year in August 2014.
