On February 12, 2016 Corporal Gaylor responded to a welfare check request regarding an elderly citizen without a heat source in the home. Corporal Gaylor spoke with the female resident and determined she was capable of self care and did not need medical attention. He contacted Adult Protective Services to request assistance for the resident, but was unsuccessful in procuring a heating source.
The following day, Corporal Gaylor returned to the residence to gather additional information about the elderly female. He contacted an acquaintance, who owns a heating and air conditioning business, for assistance. The company sent a service technician to repair the home's unit, but could not be repaired due to extensive damage. Corporal Gaylor made arrangements for a space heater to help keep the home warm until the resident could make further arrangements.
Corporal Gaylor made several follow-up calls to the resident. She contacted FCSO supervision to express her gratitude and commend him for going above and beyond normal job duties. The resident stated that Corporal Gaylor was the most professional and compassionate person she has ever met and the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office helped her when no other agency would.
Corporal Gaylor is commended for going the extra mile for a fellow citizen in need.
