On April 20, 2017, Detention Officer Bauguess and Detention Officer Gorry were assigned to the 8 South Special Needs and Management Dormitories. While performing their duties, Detention Officer Bauguess discovered that an inmate had tied an article around his neck and was turning purple in color. Detention Officer Bauguess placed an emergency call over the radio and entered the cell. Detention Officer Bauguess and Detention Officer Gorry removed the object, allowing the inmate to breathe.

Due to Detention Officer Bauguess and Gorry's quick actions, the inmate did not suffer additional medical issues from the incident. Detention Officer Bauguess has been employed since August of 2014 and Detention Officer Gorry has been employed since April 2015.
