Deputies M. Collins and Deputy M. Norwood responded to a welfare check in February. Upon their arrival, they made contact with several citizens and determined the call was now becoming that of a missing person. Deputy Collins and Deputy Norwood immediately began conducting a thorough investigation about the missing person. While conducting their interviews, Deputy Collins and Deputy Norwood did not feel comfortable with some of the information they were receiving along with visual clues they saw inside the residence. Based on their observations, it was determined that Investigators from the Investigative Services Division needed to respond to assist with this incident. Due to Deputy Collins and Deputy Norwood not ignoring their instincts, this call was later determined to be a homicide. The actions of Deputy Collins and Deputy Norwood are a prime example of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office motto, “One Team, Many Missions.”
