On November 4, 2020, Deputy B. Lang encountered an individual who was sitting on the sidewalk near the Forsyth County Hall of Justice. The individual informed Deputy Lang that he had just been released from the hospital and walked to the Hall of Justice. He expressed to Deputy Lang that he needed a ride home. It was obvious that the individual had a cognitive impairment. Deputy Lang continued speaking with him and was able to get a phone number of a relative who could assist with providing transportation. Deputy Lang asked the individual if he was hungry. Deputy Lang then escorted the individual to Courtside Café and purchased a meal for him. Deputy Lang accompanied the individual until his relative arrived to pick him up. Deputy Lang went above and beyond his duties by his generosity and willingness to keep the individual company while he waited for his ride. This is a testimony to his character and deserves to be recognized for his compassion to others.
