Mr. Ragan is the Fiscal Supervisor in the Fiscal Management Office of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO). Mr. Ragan’s professional interactions with FCSO employees, County of Forsyth staff, vendors, citizens, etc., is nothing short of extraordinary. Mr. Ragan has a gift for maintaining excellent working relationships. In all his interactions, Mr. Ragan is professional, amicable, and steadfast. As a result, Mr. Ragan is effective at getting tasks done for the Sheriff’s Office. The nature of FCSO Fiscal Management office work has changed dramatically in the last few years and even more so within the last few months. In December 2018, a new Sheriff was sworn into office which resulted in the significant change in budget and spending priorities. In addition, on July 1, 2019, Forsyth County Animal Control merged with the Sheriff’s Office and became the Animal Services Division. Then, in March 2020, Forsyth County operations and reporting requirements unexpectedly changed with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. Concurrently, Forsyth County has embarked on a new Enterprise Resource Planning System. As if these events were not enough, Mr. Ragan successfully managed the office workload for a significant period of time while two staff members were recuperating from health issues. The Fiscal Management Office is only staffed by three employees (plus an intern) which makes it challenging and has forced work responsibilities to be shifted along with increasing the number of issues to be managed. Through these changes and challenges, Mr. Ragan’s job knowledge and skill set have never been more appreciated or needed as they are right now. Mr. Ragan’s unwavering support of law enforcement, and the mission of this agency, is commended and earned him to be selected as the Civilian Staff Member of the Month for April.
