Corporal B. Gilroy with the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center has been selected as the Staff Member of the Month for November. On November 6, 2021, while working 10 South Control Room, Corporal Gilroy observed a resident attempting to hide a laundry bag within the 10C Housing Unit. After retrieving and searching the bag, located inside was a 12-inch section from a metal broom handle that had been fashioned into a weapon. On November 7, 2021, Corporal Gilroy received information that a resident identified by a name other than his legal name was in possession of a white, powdery substance which was suspected to be Cocaine. Upon further investigation, Corporal Gilroy identified the identity of the resident and located 1.2 grams of a suspected controlled substance. Through Corporal Gilroy’s attention to detail and due diligence, not only was a suspected controlled substance removed from the facility, but also a potentially deadly weapon.
