Deputy R. Rae and his K-9, Mickey, are assigned to the Patrol Division of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office. Their rapid response and effective collaboration with our partner agencies have played a pivotal role in ensuring the safety and security for the citizens of Forsyth County. On November 3, 2023, Deputy Rae and K-9 Mickey promptly responded to the Kernersville Police Department's request for assistance in tracking a suspect who fled from a traffic stop. Despite the challenges, the duo conducted a thorough track through the town of Kernersville. Although the suspect was not apprehended during this particular incident, their efforts did not go unnoticed. Furthermore, on November 4, 2023, Deputy Rae and K-9 Mickey played a crucial role in apprehending a suspect involved in a shooting, demonstrating their exceptional tracking skills. The Winston-Salem Police Department expressed their gratitude, emphasizing that without their teamwork, the successful resolution of the case would have been far more challenging. Deputy Rae's willingness to assist other agencies, especially during night shifts when K-9 units are unavailable for both WSPD and KPD, highlights his commitment to public safety. This dedication has undoubtedly made a positive impact on our community. Their exemplary actions and unwavering perseverance to duty not only embody but elevate the highest standards of our organization, earning them well-deserved recognition.
