Lieutenant J. Burcham.
Lieutenant J. Burcham plays a pivotal role in the School Resource Division of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office, where he leads a team of 37 deputies responsible for ensuring the safety and security of 25 schools within the Winston-Salem/Forsyth County School (WS/FCS) system. Throughout the past month, Lieutenant Burcham has demonstrated exceptional dedication and commitment to his role. In response to reports of suspected violence occurring after school hours, Lieutenant Burcham has demonstrated remarkable dedication, investing extensive time beyond his regular schedule to investigate and resolve potential threats. His proactive approach and swift action have contributed significantly to the successful resolution of these incidents, ensuring the safety and well-being of students and staff. Additionally, Lieutenant Burcham maintains an open line of communication with both WS/FCS personnel and his direct supervision, fostering collaboration and ensuring that the educational system operates smoothly. His proactive efforts to address concerns and maintain a safe learning environment exemplify his dedication to the community and the School Resource Division. Lieutenant Burcham's unwavering commitment to the safety and security of Forsyth County's schools makes him a valuable asset to both the School Resource Division and the citizens of our county.
Deputy T. Dawes.
The Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize Deputy T. Dawes due to his outstanding work on a recent case involving vehicle break-ins at Mt Tabor High School. Deputy Dawes exhibited exceptional dedication and professionalism throughout his investigation. Despite previous challenges in identifying suspects in similar incidents, Deputy Dawes remained steadfast in his pursuit of justice. Through meticulous attention to detail, he was able to identify two suspects based on their clothing, a breakthrough that proved pivotal in the case. Following the identification of the suspects, Deputy Dawes collaborated with Juvenile Justice and successfully obtained a Secured Custody Order for one suspect who was already on probation, while a Juvenile Petition was secured for the second suspect. Deputy Dawes's quick thinking and calm demeanor were evident during the apprehension of one suspect, which occurred without incident. Deputy Dawes's actions exemplify the highest standards of law enforcement and serve as a testament to his unwavering commitment to justice and the safety of the school community. His exemplary performance reflects great credit upon himself and the law enforcement profession as a whole.
Deputy B. Jones.
On March 5, 2024, while working a temporary assignment assisting the Enforcement Division - David Platoon, Deputy B. Jones utilized his training as an interdiction officer to conduct a lawful traffic stop on a vehicle traveling through Forsyth County. While conducting his investigation, Dep. Jones obtained enough probable cause to conduct a search of the vehicle. That search resulted in Deputy Jones locating $95,421 from the driver. Drawing upon his relationships and job knowledge, Deputy Jones promptly contacted Corporal C. Mozingo who is the Task Force Officer with the Drug Enforcement Agency. Corporal Mozingo responded and was able to seize the US Currency based on federal asset forfeiture laws. This significant seizure is expected to result in the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office gaining approximately $76,000. Deputy Jones always utilizes his training when assisting other divisions within the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office and works hard regardless of his current assignment.
Deputy J. Money & Deputy L. Manning.
Deputy J. Money and Deputy L. Manning who are assigned to the patrol division of the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office demonstrated exceptional compassion and dedication during a recent incident. While responding to assist an agency call, Deputy Money and Deputy Manning encountered a tragic situation. The homeowner, who was outside mowing his yard, suffered a heart attack and unfortunately passed away. In the midst of this distressing circumstance, both deputies demonstrated extraordinary empathy and initiative. Deputy Money, recognizing there was an unfinished task, took it upon himself to complete mowing the yard. Meanwhile, Deputy Manning assisted by clearing the grass clippings from the sidewalks and driveway. Their selfless actions not only alleviated a burden for the grieving widow and her family but also provided a moment of solace during an incredibly difficult time. Deputy Money and Deputy Manning's display of compassion, sincerity, and willingness to go above and beyond the call of duty exemplify the core values of our organization. Their actions reflect great credit upon themselves and serve as a shining example of the dedication and professionalism exhibited by our law enforcement personnel.
