On September 4, 2024, Corporal Curry responded to a reported shooting at Sherry’s Bar in the Village of Clemmons. Upon arrival, Corporal Curry immediately located two shooting victims, both of which had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. After retrieving his medical bag and dawning his PPE gear, Corporal Curry without hesitation triaged the two victims and determined that one was unconscious but had a pulse and was breathing on his own. However, the other subject had no pulse and was not breathing. At this time Corporal Curry started CPR on the subject and continued administering it until he was able to be relieved by EMS and County Fire personnel. Due to Corporal Curry’s quick thinking and action EMS was able to establish a pulse upon their arrival and maintained it during transport to Baptist Hospital. However, shortly after arrival at the ER Department, the subject was pronounced deceased by doctors. Even though the subject ultimately succumbed to his injuries later at the hospital. Corporal Curry’s actions directly influenced the prolonging of his life to be awarded the opportunity to receive emergency care from trained paramedics and doctors. I believe this agency and county are fortunate to have Corporal Curry as a member of our team.
